King General — The Story
KING GENERAL
DJ • MC/Host • Live Sound Engineer • Executive Producer • Broadcaster • Sound System Veteran • Cultural Entrepreneur
THE FOUNDATION — SINCE 1992
Since 1992, King General has dedicated his life to music, culture, entertainment and community. What began with a horn speaker, cassette tapes, collecting records and a passion for sound-system culture grew into more than three decades of experience in DJ entertainment, live audio, production, broadcasting and artist development.
Born from New York’s underground entertainment scene, he built his reputation through preparation, consistency, word of mouth and real-world experience. Long before social media, his work included private events, community functions, cultural celebrations, boat rides, nightlife, church functions, promotional activities and entertainment productions across Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Long Island, Suffolk County, Connecticut and surrounding regions.
His musical education came directly from the source: collecting vinyl from VP Records, Super Power Records, Jamaica Avenue, Brooklyn and Bronx record shops, and independent retailers throughout New York. His range spans Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, R&B, Jungle, Drum & Bass, Soca, House, Afrobeats, old-school classics, international music and contemporary sounds. Reading a room and moving between cultures, generations and musical styles became defining strengths.
His journey includes opening events associated with Funkmaster Flex and the late Fatman Scoop while building his own independent platform. Alongside performing, he studied the business, built relationships with DJs, artists, promoters and producers, supported talent and created opportunities behind the scenes.
LIVE SOUND, MC & EVENT PRODUCTION
DJing has always been only part of the story. King General developed hands-on experience in live sound engineering, PA and sound-system setup, audio mixing, wireless microphones, multi-zone event audio, live vocal support and sound operation for celebrations, showcases and performances.
He approaches an event from both sides of the system: the audience’s experience and the technical work behind it. As an MC and host, he guides the occasion, makes announcements, introduces performers and special moments, interacts with guests and helps maintain the energy and timing.
Through Ras General Sound, that experience supports DJ entertainment, professional hosting, karaoke, live performers, smaller bands, listening parties, album-release events, artist showcases and select outdoor events. Weddings can include ceremony and cocktail-hour audio, reception music, live vocalists and separate sound areas. Corporate functions and banquets can include PA and microphone support for presentations, awards, speakers and entertainment.
For operated event-sound bookings, systems can be delivered, configured, managed throughout the event, then broken down and removed by the Ras General Sound team. Each event is planned around its venue, audience and performance requirements.
THE JUNGLE WARFARE ERA
The Jungle Warfare Division represents a creative evolution of King General’s sound-system roots. Inspired by Jungle, Drum & Bass, dubplate culture, Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-Hop and underground movements around the world, it is built on creativity, preparation, originality and independence.
Jungle Warfare became an important chapter in his development as a producer and creative force. His work moved beyond playing finished records into developing concepts, guiding projects and helping music and artists reach an audience. It brought together executive production, artist development, multimedia, branding, promotion and creative direction.
For King General, it is a philosophy of adapting and creating while remaining true to the culture that built the foundation. Exclusive concepts, original productions, custom content and independent development continue that work.
RADIO, MEDIA & INTERNATIONAL REACH
Radio became another major part of the Ras General Sound story. Through independent broadcasting and internet radio, King General extended the sound beyond physical events, reaching audiences internationally and creating a platform for established artists, independent music and emerging talent.
Broadcasting strengthened his experience in programming, music selection, audience development and promotion. His work continues across radio, digital media, international networking and cultural collaboration, connecting music, artists and audiences.
PRODUCTION, ARTIST DEVELOPMENT & RELEASES
King General’s work includes music production, executive production, digital editing, creative direction and independent releases. Behind the scenes, he also helps develop artists, shape promotional strategies, organize projects, support branding and strengthen the structure around a creative career.
His work with international talent includes Zimbabwean recording artist Spectra RGS. King General served as Executive Producer and Digital Editing Engineer on Spectra’s 2026 single Sweet Mary Jane.
He continues working with Spectra RGS on additional music and a forthcoming album, bringing together creative development, production, branding, radio, promotion and international release strategy. Artist development means more than releasing a song: it also involves presentation, distribution support and long-term growth.
